Trim & Crop Method

How do we reduce material waste?

The first step when exploring packaging options is to ask the question whether packaging is actually required. And if so, how we can move forward with minimal material use.

The topic of saving material has only recently come to the forefront of sustainability conversations, but is now more important than ever.

What is the Trim & Crop Method?

No matter which material you choose, one way to effortlessly adopt a more sustainable packaging policy is by using the Trim & Crop Method. Trim down your packaging in terms of thickness by reducing it's microns, while simultaneously cropping the length, width and height.

By using this method, you will reduce all unnecessary waste and secure the most competitive pricing possible.

A Real Recyclable Solution

PE plastics are currently being collected for recycling. There are approximately 18,000 drop-off locations currently collecting PE films for recycling in the US.

Circular System

Our work with 3 SKU’s for a leading mass market retailer is moving 19 tons of plastic away from landfill and into the circular system.

What is PE?

Polyethylene film is a plastic film made from ethylene, a hydrocarbon which is mainly obtained from natural gas or petroleum. BOPP has been the most common used plastic film in our industry however, BOPP is not currently being collected for recycling. PE Plastics, on the other hand, are widely accepted by Store Drop Off programs all over the country.

With the current state of our recycling system and production of waste, it’s important to focus on better solutions for plastic use. Using easily recyclable PE plastics will help us reduce the impact of the floral and potted industry on our environment.

FSC® Certified Paper

Renewable Resource

Paper products originate from nature and are therefore, considered renewable resources.

Paper is 100% recyclable with regular paper recycling, therefore making it suitable to be used within the existing paper recycling processes.

Please note, in order for paper to remain recyclable, the use of laminations must be avoided, as these processes inhibit a product’s recyclability.

What is FSC® Certified Paper (FSC-C153487)?

FSC® is an important global partner in realizing the ambition of protecting and using forests as an effective climate solution. The organization has a code of conduct designed to achieve their goals by balancing ecological, economic and social aspects related to forestry, all of which are strictly monitored through their chain of custody.

This makes the FSC® certification not only a reliable tool for promoting sustainable forest management, but also a step towards the sustainable production of bio-energy that will help minimize greenhouse gas emissions.

In reference to Global Warming, deforestation is one of the greatest threats to the world. Simply said, trees serve as CO, warehouses which keep from warming up the earth's atmosphere.

Irresponsibly produced paper will lead to trees being cut down for paper production without any thought or concern for replacing these trees. This is why Decowraps offers stock designs utilizing FSC® certified paper (FSC-C153487), thereby guaranteeing sustainably produced packaging.
